Great news from Big C. Little Me. towers – we’ve won another award. This time for the vlogs I’ve been doing on the BBC North West Tonight facebook page. Getting dressed up to head out to the O2 Media Awards North West was a welcome distraction from the misery of the latest chemo. Steve and I went to the award ceremony at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester last week. I had another cheeky blow-dry before as my hair seems to be holding up so well this time.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect as I was up against some great competition in the Vlogger/Blogger catergory. But I was absolutely thrilled to win. The main idea of the vlogs is to show what happens during breast cancer treatment as well as to tell my story. I hope they’ve helped to demystify some of the process for people about to go through it and also for their families. The Facebook live from my chemo session in February has now been viewed more than 60 thousand times and my radiotherapy vlog almost 100 thousand so hopefully the message is getting out there.
Big thanks have to go to Katie Walderman from BBC North West who came up with the idea of the vlogs and has been tenacious in getting permission from various hospitals for us to film live! Also to Michelle Mayman the Editor of North West Tonight for giving me such a great platform from which to raise awareness. And thanks to everyone who’s watched and commented on the vlogs. Seeing as my treatment is ongoing – there’ll be plenty more to come!
